Who are the Revivers of the Religion for each generation?

The compilers of collections of 40 hadith

Imam Nawawi in his introduction to his famous Forty Hadith mentions the great scholars who inspired him, and were the brainchild behind compiling the 40 narrations (which were in fact 42). Is it ok to visit the ruins of nations who were destroyed?

We should not visit places where nations were destroyed, such as Petra, al Ula, the Dead Sea with the intention of tourism or entertainment, as these people incurred Allah's wrath and destruction for their unrelenting disobedience and corruption. They were preached to by their prophets, Hud, Salih, Shuayb and Lut but refused to listen or to accept the truth, despite their best efforts to convey God's message to them over years and in different styles.
