One of the signs of the Day of Judgement is that time will pass quickly, knowledge will be lifted and there will be a great deal of fitan. In the narration, reported by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), he narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, “(Religious) knowledge will be taken away......

The impermissibility of suicide In the Quran, Allah tells us of the sacredness of human life and the inviolability of the soul. It is a core principle. Allah has explicitly forbidden taking life unjustly, and suicide is considered impermissible in all major religions. Indeed, the unlawful taking of any life is a major sin. Allah is the One who gives life, and He alone is the One who has authority to take it. And do not kill yourselves .......

One should not feel happy if they did not receive punishment when they did something wrong. It is very serious. Istidraj has been mentioned in the Quran twice – it appears in Surat al Araf and also in Surat al Qalam. What is istidraj? It is to receive blessings, wealth, success, or other worldly pleasures despite one’s disobedience or lack of faith. It is not a sign of Allah’s favour, but a period of time in which one can slip further from Allah’s grace, while thinking they have got away with it,......

Signs of the end of time Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “I will narrate to you a Hadith and none other than I will tell you about it. I heard Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) saying: From among the signs of the Hour are (the following): 1.......

Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say, three days before his death: وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ يَقُولُ: «لَا يَمُوتَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَّا وَهُوَ يُحْسِنُ الظَّنَّ بِاللَّه». رَوَاهُ مُسلم ‘None of you should die except while having a good opinion of Allah.'” (Muslim) This is confirmation that we should trust Allah, His power and His plans, especially when things are bitter in our lives. During these tough times, and it has been......

In Surat al Isra, Allah Almighty says: Indeed, this Quran guides to what is most upright and gives glad tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that for them there is a supreme reward, and that those who do not believe in the Hereafter—We have prepared for them a painful punishment. (17: 9-10) The Quran is the final revelation, sent by Allah Almighty through Angel Jibril......

When is a democracy a dictatorship? The Quran is filled with ayahs that tell us to be just. Mankind used to be one community, then Allah sent the prophets as bearers of glad tidings and as forewarners. And He sent down with them the Book with the truth to judge between mankind regarding whatever they differed over. (2:213) Allah sent the divine Books to establish justice among people, nations, cities and......

There are many verses in the Quran that encourage us to be truthful and to stick to our principles and to cling to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and not to compromise, no matter what the circumstances we find ourselves in. Allah is saying you can be with the truthful or with the liars, but there is no in-between position. The in-betweeners are the hypocrites. This is how the Quran differentiates between people. Surat al Baqarah begins with five verses describing true believers,......

In Arabic, the word nasr (نصر) appears 33 times in the Quran. What does it mean? Nasr is commonly understood as “victory”. However, when you turn to the linguist, Ibn Faris (395 H), in “Mu’jam maqayees Al-Lughah” whose dictionary is a key reference in Arabic, the root word nasara (نصر) means ‘bringing or facilitating goodness. This was a surprising revelation, as it expands our understanding of nasr beyond just military or physical victory. It means that when you are granted nasr, Allah is facilitating goodness for you, guiding you towards success. It......

In Surat al-Imran, Allah Almighty says: Don’t be weak (against your enemy), nor be sad, and you will prevail if you are true believers. If a blow touches you, a similar blow has surely touched the (other) people. Today my focus is obedience. Obedience is ta’a in Arabic. In Islam, we have the concept of obedience to Allah Almighty, obedience to His messenger, and obedience to those who are in charge, as Allah Almighty stated in the Quran in many verses. For instance, Allah Almighty says in Surat al Imran: ‘Say “Obey Allah and the Messenger.”’ (3:32) The combination of ‘obey Allah and the Messenger’ appears at least five times. On another occasion, Allah Almighty says in Surat an-Nisa: O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger......

Allah Almighty mentions about those who are being driven and expelled from their homelands in three surahs – Surat Ale Imran, Surat Hajj and Surat al Hashr. In Surat Ale Imran, He says: So, those who emigrated, and were expelled from their homes, and were harmed in My way, and fought, and were killed, I shall certainly write off their evil deeds, and shall......

The Prophet (peace......
