Can I still pray maghrib if it is dark and about to be isha?
Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“The first matter that the slave will be brought to account for on the Day of Judgment is the prayer. If it is sound, then the rest of his deeds will be sound. And if it is defective, then the rest of his deeds will be defective.” (Sunan al-Tirmidhi)
The five daily prayers in Islam are pivotal in our day and should be performed correctly and on time. The soundness of one’s prayers are very important as we are accountable for performing them as and when prescribed and being punctual.
Maghrib in particular should be prayed as soon as possible once Maghrib begins. However if you were unable to perform it early it is still valid until Isha begins.
It’s important to note that delaying Maghrib prayer is disliked (makrooh).
