Reach new spiritual heights by purifying your heart! As we detox from food, our soul craves to be detoxed spiritually. Yet certain emotions and patterns of behaviour keep pulling us down. These emotions affect our behaviour and coat the heart and affect our connection with Allah Almighty. Our connection with Allah Almighty is the source of all goodness in our life, but can become easily clogged, and block our access to Allah’s light and guidance. If we do not unclog this connection, we become numb. How can we unclog our hearts?   Course overview We will examine common spiritual diseases of the hearts, with a special focus on emotions. This will be an emotional, spiritual and practical journey to diagnose, cure and heal the heart. We will outline the remedies from the Quran and Sunnah to enable you help cleanse the heart and strengthen your immunity against future disease inshallah. This course will examine 7 common ailments of the hearts. They are not always obvious to us and we have them to varying degrees. The good news is that we can reduce them! 1- Kibr: Arrogance, pride and vanity 2- Ghafla: Being distant from Allah by being absorbed and distracted by worldly concerns 3. Hawa:  Love of dunya, materialism, social media, lacking contentment 4- Ghadab: Anger 5- Hasad: Envy 6- Bukhl: Miserliness & greed 7- Nifaq: Hypocrisy Harness the blessings of Ramadan and focus inwards to what ails your heart and how you can cure it. Permissibility for praying live-streamed This year our mosques are open for tarawih, and it is the sunnah to pray the tarawih in congregation. Anyone who is able to and wants to should pray in the masjid. However, as we still have exceptional circumstances, with a global pandemic that has already claimed millions of lives worldwide, people are still vulnerable and susceptible to catching the virus and spreading the virus. If anyone finds the prospect of attending tarawih in the masjid difficult, for instance they are worried that they may fall sick, or that they may spread the virus to others, or that they are otherwise unable to go to the masjid, they have the option to follow the tarawih online. Known as Sultan al-'Ulama, Imam Izz al-Din Abd as-Salam was a courageous scholar who stood up to the tyrants of his time. He advised Muslim rulers at a time when the Islamic world was under attack from Tartars and Crusaders. He was described by Ibn al-Imad al-Hanbali as the Sheikh of Islam. An expert in Islamic law, he wrote many brilliant and important books. His literary legacy is very valuable, particularly in the fields of Shafi'i jurisprudence, Quranic jurisprudence, tafsir, and Sufism. His main and enduring contribution was his masterpiece on Islamic legal principles Qawa'id al-Ahkam fi Masalih al-Anam. Al-Qawa'id al-Sughra, or al-Fawa'id fi Mukhtasar al-Qawa'id is its summary. He died in 660AH. al-Fawaid fi Ikhtisar al-Maqasid The primary purpose of the Shariah is to promote benefit for the individual and society and to minimise harm. Izz al-Din Abd as-Salam was able to see the bigger picture, which is an art, and shed light on how Islamic commandments and prohibitions ensure what is best for man. The Fiqh provides guidance on how to navigate the best route through a variety of situations. He has been commended by scholars in all generations and lauded for his originality. Our first talk in our series of Utrujj Talks is by expert Dr Saania Bhatti on Understanding Neurodiversity. Dr. Bhatti, a GP with a specialist role in mental health and neurodiversity,  demystifies neurodivergence and explains the unique strengths neurodivergent individuals bring to society. Whilst the thrust of her presentation addresses autism and ADHD, it fosters a deeper understanding of neurodivergence in adults and children. She highlights how embracing diversity fosters harmony in the lives of neurodivergent individuals and their families and friends.
